Fran Harris tells Patrick Dougher, host of The Business Spotlight TV show, that she started out in television as a sports announcer for ESPN. She is a TV coach, and her goal is to get you on TV.
Fran’s start in television was interesting. “I played basketball at the University of Texas, won a national championship, and they said, “What do you want to do with the rest of your life?” I told them, “I like to talk a little bit. I know a little bit about basketball. I want to do sports.” So I got the opportunity and submitted my tape to ESPN. They saw something and I got that gig. “
She says when she first started announcing she wasn’t very good, but stuck with it. She said to herself, ‘You know what? Ultimately I’m going to get really good at this.’ She went on to say, “Once I started to figure out the system of being on television, and what it takes to get a producer’s attention, I realized that entrepreneurs, CEOs and other people really wanted to know how to be good on television, so I started coaching. I started doing media coaching, and helped people get on TV by coaching them over the last 15 years.
In that last 15 years she has been able to personally generate over $50 million in free publicity for herself alone – not including all the people she has coached! As she says, “I have never had to pay for TV publicity.”
“If you really want to create some separation in the marketplace as an entrepreneur, television is what you need,” and Fran Harris is just the person to get you on TV.
