Dr. Mary Swift, DDS, is the guest speaker on this edition of “The Business Spotlight” with host Patrick Dougher. She has received the Consumer Choice Award for years 2011, 2012 and 2013 for dentistry in the Dallas area. Recently, Doctor Swift received the Angie’s List Super Service Award. She is on the program today to talk about Invisalign braces.
Invisalign braces are a series of clear trays that move your teeth into a corrected position. There are no wires or traditional braces involved, and most people will not even realize you are wearing them. Trays are thin and lightweight, and each tray moves the teeth a little bit at a time, over a period of two weeks apiece. They are very comfortable, easy to use, and have changed Dr. Swift’s dental practice, and the entire way we think about braces.
In the old days, wire braced were used. They had to be tightened, food got stuck in them, and they were often painful to wear. After they were removed you still have to wear retainers in order to keep your teeth in the correct position.
Dentists discovered that teeth start to crowd as we age, whether they had braces or not. Align Technology invented and distribute Invisalign originally to help those who had already had traditional braces realign their teeth, and then the teeth shift later. They did not want to wear the old, cumbersome braces again – or felt too old for braces.
Anyone who wants a prettier smile, in general, are the people who can utilize Invisalign. She recommends that you make sure all your teeth are aligned before you have any dental work – like crowns, implants, etc. done.
