Patrick Dougher, host of The Business Spotlight, speaks with guest Kasandra Vitacca Mitchell, founder of Epiphany Financial. Kasandra is an established wealth coach, working with people to help them make a “financial epiphany,” and build their personal wealth by showing them that Money and Human Behavior are related.
Many people do not take care of their financial health. People have become greedy. They have learned to keep wanting more money, and it becomes a a problem (gluttony) where there is no way to satisfy. In order to try to make more money, they often make bad money decisions. Kasandra’s job is to help them turn this around so they have a sound financial future for retirement, and to pass along to their heirs.
You can’t change a pattern of mismanaging money quickly, it didn’t happen overnight and it will not be fixed overnight. We’ve been trained by TV to accept what we see as the standard, and it is not, it is the exception. Stop looking at what others are doing and listen to those who try to help them get on track.
Kasandra likes to say, “Money is not math, it’s human behavior.” “If money were math we’d all be mega-millionaires,” she says. “There are behaviors today that can set you up for success tomorrow.”
There is not a system, so much, but there is a behavior. Are you willing to do the behavior in order to get where you want, to reach your maximum?” She gave an example of a young man who came to her to help set up his financial future. The gentleman came in with a lot of knowledge of the principle of finance that he got from reading and studying. This indicated to her that he was willing to do what it takes to make himself a financial success. He set his goals, and had a plan. They spoke together and planned out how we would get to his 20% savings down the road (it will take some time). It was a process that he had to come to in order to have certain behaviors to build the right mindset to grow your money.
“You will not have wealth unless you save for wealth.” The way to make anything exciting with your money is to save it first. You have to save first. The more you add to it the more options you have. So much of the reason that you were able to get there is because you had mental growth in order to get there. This is where money and human behavior are related. You can’t grow your money if you don’t have the right mindset.
