Several business owners speak with Patrick Dougher, host of The Business Spotlight TV show, showcasing businesses and offering tips, expert advice and techniques for business owners. Their topic for this segment is the shifting in media marketing, and how business can make adjustments to follow those changes.
Louis Estrada, managing partner of ES Creative Gang, has worked in many genres within media, and with so many professionals all over the world, especially in Latin America, to help give birth to whole networks.
According to Louis, the shifts in media marketing continue to evolve. “Just last week Netflix reached a milestone of over 50 million subscribers…Their biggest challenge now is the way that it gets there. Their biggest fight is actually with the people who provide the internet for all of us – Time Warner, AT&T, Verizon, etc. because they are fighting against their competitor, and their competitor is actually the one giving them the internet service.”
“It’s interesting because their competitors are actually relying on their competitors to give them the service to get their product out,” he says. “So the competitive landscape has become very exciting.”
A freestanding business online can extend their conversions and bring in more clients by going online, says David Swift, Marketing Guru. “Conversions is the backbone of business, and finding more ways to increase the rate of conversions is what all business’ look for, and how marketers make their money,” David says.
One of the keys marketing experts look to help their clients increase their customer conversions rate is through digital marketing. They search ways to showcase their services, and how going online can lead to more people understanding what your services are.
The way marketers go about it is to maximize their value, and highlight each individual segment of the business is by using video and digital marketing by dividing topics them into segments, like chapters in a book.
Valerie Riefenstahl, co-owner of the Alternative Board in the Dallas area,
and her coworkers have seen the shifts in media marketing and how it affects businesses in so many ways. She sees video as the way a business can connect with their clients, or potential clients, who are checking them out on the internet. First they will Google you, and then they will check out your website.
If you have video, “Video will be clicked on much more frequently,” Valerie says. “A short, two minute chat about your value proposition, and they can see how you are able to solve their problem. They don’t feel like they’re being sold to with a video, but that they are finding a solution.”
We are self-centered, and we want it NOW. Speed is actually noticeable to some people. Information is king, it has always been king. Translate that into business and marketing and you want information NOW. You need to distinguish yourself from everyone else who is doing what you do.
Everyone has a website. Media, which now includes video, is how we get the message out and has always been the most powerful way to get your message out – with movies, with moving pictures and music, etc.
Business owners are not including in their message moving images, and video, because they think it is too expensive, and it’s not. “Like everything else, technology has brought it to a point where it is affordable. The only thing you have to do is tell it in a story, and tell it in a compelling way,” says Louis.
Media is changing in our world, and SEO and Digital Marketing are changing the algorithms done by search engines. “It’s changed user intent, and Google analytics is finding out what people are actually looking for,” says Chris Heney of Stick In Your Head Digital Marketing.
Tonja Waring, also of Stick In Your Head Digital Marketing, breaks it down to say that you have to “get real” with your content. How can you create a lot of value in your content to get results?
Chris says, “Touching on two points: Conversion; and getting personal. People are still people…and they want to connect with you as human beings. It’s like using stock photos instead of real photos on your site. People are looking for authentic. There’s a level of disappointment,” Chris says, “so connecting on a personal level is important.”
“Google actually has a patent,” Chris goes on to say. “It’s called Search Engine User Intent. If you get a chance to look at that patent it actually describes what they are doing.” “It means that SEO, as we know it, is actually disappearing,” he says.
