SVP Dallas And bigBANG! on Transforming The Community – YouTube.
Patrick Dougher, host of The Business Spotlight TV Show in Dallas, is speaking with other community leaders and businessmen about local charities. His guests this week are Dick Evans/President/CEO-Proliance Resource Group, LLC and Past President of Social Venture Partners (SVP);Dale Young, CEO with Summitt Consolidated Group; Bob Wright, founder of SVP. They are discussing their big upcoming community involvement event October 30th, bigBANG!
October 30 is the date for the bigBANG! to be held at Paul Quinn College, 3837 Simpson Stuart Rd, Dallas, TX to benefit children in poverty. The event will be spotlighting local leaders and organizations who “are posed to bring innovative change to our community.” You can learn more about the event, and get your ticket to attend on the website: http://BiGBangTX.com.
According to Young this event is a great way to see what SVP has to offer, and see the passion those involved have with helping and building their communities.
Going into the involvement with SVP Dallas Evans did not originally see getting involved with SVP Dallas so much as a way to help his business, but he found it actually has. Like any other business, non-profits needs these services. They are looking to attract as many top quality people as they can. Some of the services he uses in his company could be carried forward into charity work, and his consulting company deals in the areas of human resources, risk management, insurance.
Evans says his company goes in to evaluate the 501-C charities, including the tools they use to draw the people they need. They do this pro-bono. From this audit they are able to connect these charities to some truly amazing business owners, through SVP that will help the charities to grow, raise more money, and educate others.
Evans goes on to say that, although the primary reason business get into philanthropy is not to increase their own bottom line, through the networking with other like-minded businesses, and building a reputation for working for, as well as with, others, it does just that.
Young tells other business owners that working with charities is just “the right thing to do.” He thinks the SVP model is unique, and different from other charities. Young promotes the causes as they are brought to him, and shares their information to other business owners.
Wright tells of the business model that became SVP, “making small involvements of money, but large investments of time and experience.” SVP has been around for over 15 years. They look for Social Entrepreneurs, but in the long run charities are just like businesses.
