Texas State Senator Ken Paxton speaks with Patrick Dougher on the Business Spotlight about his bid for Attorney General for the State of Texas.
Why is it important for Texas to have a Republican Attorney General? According to Senator Paxton, the Democrats control all of the big states. If Texas were to become Democratic the nation would be moving to a one-party system, with no checks and balances. It is important that the nation remain a two-party system. For this reason it is essential that representatives be elected who will stand up for what is right. He cautions that voters should not vote by what they see or read in the news, but look at the record of the person they are voting for to make sure they are not afraid to stand up and take charge.

Shannon Gibson Halla of Halla Law Firm on The Business Spotlight
Patrick Dougher of The Business Spotlight TV interviews Shannon Gibson Halla, co-owner of the Halla Law Firm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Halla Law Firm works predominantly on Estate Planning.
Setting up an estate does not mean your family will avoid probate. It allows people to decide who get what, without the state taking everything, especially if they were to die intestate (without a will). She also represents them in probate court. Shannon says it is important to have a litigater, whose job it is to fight for you and your family. A litigater is not afraid to fight for you and what you needs, not only in setting up your will, but representing you in probate court.
After a death, she says she sees two main emotions – grief and greed. Usually it’s grief, but there are times when, especially if there are multiple marriages with children involved, people want to fight for what they belief is due them. The cost for litigation can get quite expensive, but is more expensive if no steps have been taken prior to death.
To get ahold of Shannon, you can contact her at hallalawfirm.com; or call 972-447-8315 or email at shalla@halla.com.

Guest host of the Business Spotlight TV show, Andrew Szabo of TheMarketingChef.com, interviews the founders of CXO Collective, Corbin Cowan and Jason Myers on their company, its expansion, and the value of networking.
Prior to co-founding CXO Collective, Jason was a corporate trouble-shooter for Fortune 500 companies in the wireless industry. His talent was the “fixer,” repairing things that were broken in sales, operations, and technical areas. Both he and Corbin have a history of consulting and helping other business to succeed. Their similar backgrounds provided the credentials to launch their collaboration.
“Everybody’s got ideas. It comes down to who executes these ideas,” says Myers. “By bringing together the best and the brightest, like Corbin’s talking about, and coupling that with the capital to be able to actually take companies to the next level – is really the magic.”
This is accomplished through networking with other successful businesses.
The pair refers to their ability to attract capital and investors as their “CXO Collective Triad.” “We bring together the capital, the expertise, and the opportunities,” says Myers. “It a unique ecosystem that allows us to bring those people into a room and let the magic happen.”

Host of the Business Spotlight TV show, Patrick Dougher, speaks with the founders of CXO Collective, Corbin Cowan and Jason Myers, who Dougher says have brought together the best and brightest minds, and the most affluent, to create a network of visionaries ready, willing and able to help owners take their companies to the next level.
”One of the exercises that we do with companies is that we take them through a strategy session. We put several consultants in the room and we brainstorm. Out of that process, we realized the power of collaboration and how you can create great ideas and help companies go to the next level by collaborating,” says Cowan.
“Everybody’s got ideas. It comes down to who executes these ideas,” says Myers. “By bringing together the best and the brightest, like Corbin’s talking about, and coupling that with the capital to be able to actually take companies to the next level – is really the magic.”
